In 2010, Carole Starr & her mentor Bev Bryant founded Brain Injury Voices, a Maine-based volunteer group of brain injury survivors whose mission was educate, advocate and support. Over 11 years working together, the group made a difference in the Maine brain injury community and created a national model for other brain injury survivor groups. Below is information about the group.
A brief summary of who the group was and what they did
January 2018--Brain Injury Voices Facilitator Carole Starr's writing was published in the digital magazine Hope after Brain Injury. Her article, Resolutions for Brain Injury Survivors, on page 9 is about mindsets that can help brain injury survivors move forward.
December 2017--Brain Injury Voices member Hilary Zayed's writing and art were published in the digital magazine TBI Hope & Inspiration. Her article, Reflections on Life after Brain Injury, on page 22 is about coping with a hidden disability.
June 2016--Brain Injury Voices Facilitator Carole Starr's writing was published in the digital magazine TBI Hope & Inspiration. Her article, Anniversaries, on page 7 is about strategies to cope with the anniversary date of one's brain injury.
May 2016--Brain Injury Voices members Hilary Zayed & Paula Sparks and their art class were featured in an article "The Art of Therapy" in the HealthSouth Connect Magazine.
